 LUH_logo The Leibniz Universität Hannover (LUH) was founded in 1831 by the scholar Karl Karmarsch. It was originally named the “Higher Trade School of Hannover” and it started with only 64 students.
Today there are more than 24,000 students in the natural sciences and engineering, the humanities and social sciences as well as in law and economics. The Leibniz Universität Hannover is an efficient and modern institution of higher education. Its declared aim is to constantly improve the quality of teaching and research so as to ensure that studying, teaching and researching in Hannover continue to be enjoyable. Around 75 subjects organised in nine faculties with more than 160 full-time and part-time degree courses make Leibniz Universität Hannover one of the largest higher education institutions in Lower Saxony. The joint goal of the 1,300 academic employees and more than 300 professors is that of top quality in research and teaching.
