 | The University of Thessaly (UTH) is a new and dynamic university that was founded in 1984. Though newly founded, it has demonstrated remarkable work in the course of its life. |
Since its founding 18 years ago, it has been operating with 4 faculties, 16 undergraduate departments, 3 elective study programs and 5 postgraduate programs, covering various areas from Education and Archaeology to Medicine and Mechanical Engineering. During this time a great number of projects funded both by national funds and EU funds have been completed.
The University has strong ties with the primary teachers’ community, especially the local schools, through its Department of Primary Education and its academic activities. The Department of Primary Education is currently running two Masters’ Programs:
• Modern learning environments and the creation of educational material and
• Organizing and managing education
Each year the department has roughly 120 new undergraduate students and a total of approximately 60 active graduate students. A small percentage of them proceed into working towards a PhD dissertation.
