Hans van der Meij studied at Leiden University where he obtained his B.A. in psychology (1975) and M.A. in educational psychology (1981). After working for a year at the Learning Research & Development Center in Pittsbugh USA, under the supervision of Professor Margaret Wang, he returned to Leiden University to teach and complete a Ph.D. (1986). He studies questioning, technical documentation (e.g., instructional design, minimalism, the development of self-study materials), and the functional integration of ICT in education.
His research on questioning addresses the main processes involved in asking and answering questions and in the factors that inhibit or facilitate questioning in educational settings among others. In the field of technical documentation his work deals both with the development of theoretical models and experimental testing and applied research. In his research on the functional integration of ICT, the focus lies on finding ways to functionally embed ICT-usage in classroom practices.
He has (co-)authored over 100 scientific publications and is a regular speaker at international conferences. He received several awards for his publications, including an STC Frank R. Smith Outstanding Article Award (with John Carroll) from the American Society for Technical Communication (STC), and a Landmark paper award (with John Carroll) from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Tim Post graduated from the University of Twente with a B.Sc. degree in Education (2002-2007), at the Department of Instructional Technology at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. His extra-curricular activities among others include a one-year board membership of student association Dimensie (2004-2005) and guest lecturing at various universities in the Netherlands on the topic of lucid dreaming. Tim is currently conducting research on the masters’ degree of Educational Science & Technology on the topic of guided discovery learning.
For the last few years Tim has been working on the development of Lucidipedia, a web-based learning platform for lucid dreaming. His academic multi-disciplinary project, consisting of collaborating students ranging from the degrees of Educational Science, Psychology, Information Technology and Communication Studies, aims to support dedicated online communities of learning with web-based technologies. The project is expanding into an enterprise to encourage students to undertake personal dreams and passion in study, work and research related activities.
His research interests among others include: usability design in web-based learning environments, multimedia branding, communities of practice and personal entrepreneurship.
